State Pension increase greatest in fifteen years.

Chloe Smith, MP for Norwich North, has welcomed the news that pensioners in Norwich will see the biggest increase to their state pension for fifteen years.

 

Commenting on the announcement, Chloe said:

 

“This is a fantastic example of the triple lock in action. Our commitment to raising the state pension by the highest of earnings, wages or 2.5% mean that pensioners are now £1,125 a year better off than when we took office.”

 

The basic state pension will rise by £3.35 to £119.30. A single tier pension for new pensioners will be introduced in April next year at £155.65. This has been made possible by raising the retirement age to match improvements in life expectancy.
