Chloe Smith, Member of Parliament for Norwich North, will on Friday 6th December welcome the Prime Minister’s Enterprise Adviser, Lord Young, to visit Norwich Business School at UEA.

In her capacity as Advisory Board Member for the Business School, Chloe will be welcoming Lord Young to UEA’s Business School to meet with Board Members and students to discuss the work of the school.

Lord Young will be hearing about how the Business School engages directly with small firms to help them grow as well as how the school is connected to the wider business landscape in the region. The Business School and students will also explain to Lord Young how entrepreneurial skills are taught to students to encourage new enterprises.

Students from the Business School will have the opportunity to ask Lord Young questions about how schools like theirs can become business support ‘anchor institutions’ for small firms in the local area and how the ideas in Lord Young’s report, Grow Your Business, will help incentivise business schools to do more to engage with small firms.

Lord Young will also be given an update on the progress of the University’s Enterprise Centre, which is currently under construction.

Chloe worked with Lord Young while a Cabinet Office minister, on ways to help small firms do more business with government.

Chloe comments: “Being an advisory board member for Norwich Business School is a real privilege and it is important to help the school connect to the local business community.  I’ve worked with Lord Young in Westminster on ideas to help small firms get more business, and am pleased to welcome him to Norwich.”

Peter Schmidt-Hansen, Associate Director of Enterprise, Engagement and External Relations, Norwich Business School comments: “We’re delighted that Lord Young will be visiting us. His vision for business schools matches perfectly with our own and we look forward to showing him how we work with local enterprises”
