MP for Norwich North Chloe Smith is today quizzing Ministers from the Department of Health about joined up care for veterans.

Chloe will explain that she has a number of veterans in her constituency that would greatly benefit from a clear and joined up approach to their health and social care issues.

She will express her gratitude to a number of voluntary organisations, including the local Matthew Project and its new Outside the Wire service in Norfolk. But Chloe will press the Minister to ensure that the Government will do all it can, having signed the military covenant, to ensure the highest standard of care for our former servicemen and women.

Chloe Smith commented:

“Our brave veterans, some still suffering from injuries sustained in conflict, deserve the highest standards of care.  I have a constituent who was injured whilst serving our country during the Falklands conflict who is still suffering from his injuries and another who is living with injuries he suffered whilst serving in Afghanistan.

“I’m proud that this Government signed the military covenant to protect the welfare of our servicemen and women, and I will ask that they continue all efforts to ensure that there is a joined up approach to health and social care for veterans in their retirement.”
