Chloe Smith elected to Transport Select Committee

Chloe Smith, MP for Norwich North, has been elected by MPs to the Transport Select Committee.

 



A longstanding campaigner for rail, roads and other key regional transport issues, Chloe had already led nearly 40 colleagues from four eastern counties to produce the East Anglian Rail Prospectus which has seen success so far in improvements at Ely and elsewhere.  She has also campaigned strongly for the A11 dualling, A47 improvements and the Norwich Northern Distributor Road and works closely with Norwich International Airport which is in her constituency as well as the energy industry around the East Anglian coastline.

 

She stood for the cross-party committee because there was no East Anglian representation on it to date.

 

She said:  “I am delighted to be elected to serve on this cross-party committee, examining transport issues around the UK in detail and providing the view from East Anglia.  Transport is obviously so important as a regional issue and I hope to provide a balanced approach which ensures East Anglia has a voice.”
