Chloe Smith, MP for Norwich North, has been appointed a patron of the Inspire Discovery Centre in Norwich

The Centre is the only hands-on interactive science learning gallery in Norfolk.  Located at the heart of Norwich and featuring a series of interactive facilities and science exhibits, Inspire aims to provide children, young people and their families with a fun, memorable and hands-on learning experience, encouraging them to discover and enjoy scientific exploration at an early age.

It is a registered charity run and supported by local people and businesses, that not only provide funding and resources, but also work in collaboration with Inspire to promote science learning and fun.

All the exhibits and activities that Inspire has collected support open-ended learning, working alongside statutory education to increase children’s knowledge and experience of science, whilst keeping the experience of discovering and learning fresh and vigorous.

Commenting on her appointment, Chloe said:

'I was delighted to be asked to be a Patron of the Inspire Centre and I look forward to joining.

'I think it's important to supplement the work of schools with this kind of hands-on learning.  We talk about the falling numbers of people with science and technology skills - this local gem of a charity encourages exactly those interests at an early age.

'I am proud that we have this centre here in Norwich, serving Norfolk and giving an excellent example nationally.
