The countdown to the election has started

So it’s less than 100 days to go to the General Election and the campaign is beginning.  The choice facing the country in May is important.  It’s crucial to secure our country’s economy.

I’ve been the MP for Norwich North for the last six years and  I would very much like to continue to serve my city as its Member of Parliament.  I’ll be standing, then, for re-election in May this year.  I am lucky to love the job I have and am honoured to represent Norwich North.  I want to continue to work for you, and stand-up for the people of Norwich.

It’s also important to keep a strong, community MP who gets results.

Since being elected, I’ve got results – like helping bring Norwich youth unemployment down faster than elsewhere in the country.

I argue for Norwich’s needs and I win – such as better road and rail transport to keep Norwich’s economy moving.

I’ve worked hard to tackle Norwich’s problems, and strive to be a strong, community MP who gets things done.

I have a vision that Norwich can do even better still.   I’ve set out a six point plan for Norwich, which I’ll be talking about in more detail here over the next few weeks.

This plan for Norwich and its surroundings contains ambitious but realistic goals that will help Norwich stay the course to prosperity:

  1. Full employment in Norwich.  I will continue to work to bring even more jobs to Norwich for everyone.  Building on the success of my Norwich For Jobs initiative.
  2. The best schools to give Norwich children the best start in life.  There are now more good schools in Norwich than in 2010, but more needs to be done.
  3. Standing up for Norwich’s NHS.  I will stick up for our local NHS, and work to build a strong, secure economy to fund it.
  4. Better transport for our city and county.  We have made great progress and proved the case for investment.  I will stay on the case to ensure we get the infrastructure we need for Norwich
  5. A good home for everyone in Norwich.  From starter homes to family homes, sustainable development has to work for local people.
  6. Keep Norwich and nearby a great, safe place to live, work, raise a family and retire.

If you share my hopes for our city, please share this link.  Even better, get involved – it’s going to be a huge campaign both locally and nationally.  Drop me a line on chloe@chloesmith.org.uk,  I’d love you to be part of it.
