Storm Eunice

Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 18 February 2022 10:28

Today people are being urged to stay safe during Storm Eunice by following emergency flood and weather warnings as the Government takes steps to protect people from flooding and extreme winds.

Storm Eunice is predicted to be one of the worst storms in decades, with very strong winds and high waves that could bring flooding, risk lives and disrupt travel.

That is why people are being urged to make sure they are prepared by signing up to flood and weather warnings, staying away from the coast and making sure they are in a safe place in affected areas, and being aware that travel could be disrupted.

The Prime Minister has chaired an emergency COBRA meeting to coordinate the national response, which includes deploying flood barriers, putting the army on standby, and working with partners across the country to respond to this extreme weather and keep people safe.
