Over seven million £324 payments made to families by government in last week alone

Yesterday, the government announced that over 7 million cost of living payments had been made to low-income families in one week, as the most vulnerable families continue to be protected during this difficult period.
I understand that families are struggling with rising prices, fuelled by Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine and the aftermath of the Covid pandemic, the worst economic shock to the global economy in 300 years.
That is why I welcome that over 7 million payments have been delivered directly into the bank accounts of the most vulnerable households in just one week.
At the upcoming Autumn Statement, the government will continue to prioritise helping the most vulnerable just as we during Covid, as tough decisions are needed to drive down inflation and fix the public finances.
