Chloe Smith, Member of Parliament for Norwich North, along with her seven Conservative colleagues have reached out to the Norfolk business community to offer their help and support for jobs in the county during the second lockdown period.

In a joint letter to both the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce and the Federation for Small Businesses, the ‘Norfolk 8’ invited both organisations to ensure their members made sure they knew to contact them with their concerns and offered support to the Norfolk business community.

In the letter, the Norfolk 8 stated that: “We know that this will be a difficult moment for businesses in Norfolk, with yet another tough month ahead, and challenging prospects for trade at Christmas and into the new year.”

The letter made clear that all of the Norfolk MPs were on hand to answer questions, listen to concerns and provide information to the business community and raise these issues with the relevant ministers if needs be.

Collectively, the MPs stated that “We want to support firms, maintain and increase job prospects for all.”

The letter reiterated the key points that the Prime Minister made in his speech that he delivered in the House of Commons on Tuesday that we now have to take action yet again, as a country.

Impressing upon the severity of the situation, the letter stated that if we don't take this action nationally, “even in Norfolk we may see the NHS unable to provide care of all kinds.  We have sought assurances for our county, including that there will be appropriate next steps for Norfolk after the end of this action in early December.”

Chloe commented: “I and my Norfolk colleagues know how worrying this situation is, but the Chancellor has ensured that there is support for businesses of all sizes, and the jobs that they represent, during this second lockdown period. My colleagues and I are keen that businesses across our county know what help is available because this is critical for jobs and livelihoods. This is a challenging time, but together we will get through this.”
