Norfolk and Suffolk and Foundation Trust Update

Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 12 May 2022 16:56

We are all concerned about the recent Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) report on the Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust (NSFT).  Good quality mental health services for Norwich North, which are readily accessible, are incredibly important. People need a better service. You can see my earlier reaction to their inspection rating here: https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/health/norfolk-mps-react-to-nsft-cqc-result-8929322 .

That’s why I was pleased to talk with the Health Minister directly on this very issue today, and get her assurances that this matter is being taken very seriously at a Government level. I was also pleased to see that multiple agencies are working together on this, to ensure all the support needed to make the necessary improvements is provided.

But of course, people need good mental health services right now while these improvements are being made, and it is important that no one falls through gaps in this process. I will be keeping in very close contact with the Minister, NSFT and the CQC to help ensure this does not happen.
