NNUH strikes

Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 19 January 2023 15:37

NHS workers have voted to take part in a national strike action at NNUH this week and I want to re-assure constituents that the Government's priority is keeping patients safe during strike action.

Tried and tested plans are in place to minimise disruption and to make sure that emergency services continue to operate across NNUH and the Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust this week.

I am hugely grateful for the hard work and dedication of all our NHS staff locally, including nurses, and I deeply regret that some union members have voted for industrial action locally.

I have been advised that Trust staff and union representatives have worked together to maintain services for emergency and life-preserving care.

If you have a procedure or outpatient appointment at NNUH this week, if this has been rearranged, affected patients will have been contacted directly about this in advance. If you have not heard from the hospital, you should continue to attend your procedure or appointment as usual.

If you need medical help or advice, please go to NHS 111 online unless it is a life-threatening emergency when you should still call 999. The NNUH Emergency Department and Cromer Minor Injuries Unit remain open during strike days.

Please be aware that strike action does not impact GP services and pharmacies, which remain open to assist patients where necessary.
