National cervical screening campaign

Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 14 February 2022 11:48

Today, the Government have announced the launch of a new national cervical screening campaign, encouraging women to come forward for screening and helping save hundreds of lives.

Around two women die every day from cervical cancer and nearly one in three don’t take up the offer of cervical screening, but the test takes just a few minutes and can stop the disease before it starts.

That is why I welcome this new national campaign, calling on all women to take up the offer of cervical screening. Celebrities are starring in a new campaign film, which addresses concerns around screening such as embarrassment and nervousness, encouraging those eligible to attend.

By encouraging more women to come forward for their test, we can save more lives.
