Kickstart scheme update

Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 26 January 2021 12:35

It is great news that over 120,000 jobs have been created for 16-24 year olds through the government's flagship £2 billion Kickstart Scheme to date, and that it is now even easier for employers of all sizes to sign up.

Now, the government will make it even simpler for employers of all sizes to benefit from joining the scheme by removing the limit requiring they create a minimum of 30 vacancies to apply directly. To ensure all job placements continue to be of a high quality, the government will continue to apply rigorous checks on training support and finances.

By removing the threshold of a minimum 30 jobs for direct applications, it is now even simpler to get involved.  For more information and to sign up to the Kickstart scheme, please visit: https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/kickstart-scheme

The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to create new job placements for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment.
Young people need this support during the pandemic.  Locally, my Norwich for Jobs project has always helped young people find work and now we helping Norwich firms to take full advantage of this package.  We want to hear from you and your local company if you are in a position to employ this year.  To find out how to get involved with the Norwich for Jobs project as an employer please e-mail info@norwichforjobs.org.uk.

Businesses can also benefit from a lot of support to sustain them and their local jobs at these difficult times - more info here: https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus/business-support

I want to see people thriving again in north Norwich.  With schemes like this, and the vaccine being rolled out as fast as possible, I hope we can look to the future.
