Government's Plan For Jobs is bringing economic security to workers and more trade for businesses in Norwich

Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 14 June 2022 11:27

Figures released this morning reveal that the employment rate increased between February and April 2022 – showing that our Plan For Jobs is working and our economy is recovering.

Alongside the Government's £37 billion of support, I know that getting people into work with the security of a job is key to help families tackle global cost of living pressures.

New figures released this morning show that the employment rate rose by 0.2 per cent to 75.6 per cent between February and April 2022 compared to the previous three-month period – with unemployment below pre-pandemic levels.

Locally, there were 1,970 actual claimants in Norwich North constituency, which was 3.5% of the population aged 16-64, compared to a national rate of 3.8%.

There were 345 claimants aged 18-24, which was 5.1% of the population aged 18-24.

I am pleased that over the past year the number of claimants has fallen by 1,075 in Norwich North.

These statistics confirm that the Government's Plan For Jobs is bringing economic security to workers and more trade for businesses in Norwich.
