Government hits accelerator on low-cost renewable power

Yesterday the Government announced that they are hitting the accelerator on a plan for more low cost renewables securing British power, establishing new industries and creating high skilled jobs.
With the global rise in volatile gas prices, there has never been a better time to strengthen the security of our domestic energy supply and invest in renewable power.
That is why there is a need to ramp up the flagship renewable energy scheme, by announcing that auctions to supply low-carbon electricity will now happen every year instead of every two – supporting the UK’s renewable energy infrastructure to boost energy security.
This will allow the UK to continue to lead the way on renewable energy, providing cheaper energy to consumers, guaranteeing more of our energy is produced at home and reducing our dependence on volatile fossil fuels.
