Government announces £800m boost to improve patient care

Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 14 October 2022 15:07

Steps towards improving patient safety were announced today, as the Government declared over £800m of funding will be allocated UK-wide to boost growth and support specialist biomedical and patient safety research centres.

As part of the commitment to its new Plan for Patients, benefits will be felt by patients in the form of innovative new treatments, faster diagnosis, and an overall improvement in the health sector’s understanding of patient safety.

I will be following the progress of the plan closely and continuing to represent your concerns to ensure that Norwich North constituents benefit from proposed improvements in the NHS and social care system. As the plan develops, I will share those details with you, and, as always, I warmly welcome your feedback on the proposals.

Building on our reputation as nation of excellence in global research, this funding boost will support the development of pioneering research into innovative new drugs, boost the economy and deliver on the Conservative Government’s commitment to deliver more high-wage, high-skill jobs right across the UK.
