Championing better, local mental health services this World Mental Health Day Chloe Smith, MP for Norwich North praises the Government’s back to work announcement today.
“I am delighted that on World Mental Health Day, the UK Government has announced a £122 million support package to help over 100,000 mental health sufferers back into work. We know that helping individuals return or remain in the workplace is good for their wellbeing, their financial security and grows our economy. Helping people access both clinical support for mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, and stress as well as employment advice gives them the tools they need to get into or return to the labour market and thrive once again.”
Chloe added, “MIND report 1 in 7 People in Norfolk live with depression or anxiety, and 84% of people will experience a mental health problem at some point in their life. Many people find that some form of working, or volunteering enhances mental well-being, boosts self-esteem and is good for long-term health. It is entirely possible, with the right support, to stay in, or return to a workplace.”
