Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 27 November 2015 12:39

Chloe Smith, MP for Norwich North, has welcomed news that pupils in Norwich will continue to get the investment they need to succeed.

Commenting on the announcement Chloe said:

“The plan for a new national funding for schools is a big step forwards and I look forward to the start of the consultation next year. For now, not only is the schools budget protected in real terms, but the total financial support for education will increase by £10 billion.

“I also welcome the Chancellor’s confirmation of an increase in the dedicated school grant, continued funding for free infant school meals and protected rates for the pupil premium.”

The Government will invest £23 billion in school buildings to help meet the demand for school places.

In his Autumn Statement, the Chancellor also announced the expansion of National Citizen Service.

Chloe said:

“Across the country 80,000 students do National Citizen Service including many at the Community Sports Foundation here in Norwich. It’s great to hear that funding will increase to allow 300,000 to take part by 2020.”
