Chloe has welcomed news that City College Norwich will benefit from upgraded facilities to improve the education of students.

The Government is fast-tracking £200 million of the £1.5 billion pledged to repair and upgrade further education buildings, alongside a transformational 10-year school rebuilding programme.

Of this funding, City College Norwich will benefit from £1,754,842 to upgrade its facilities.

City College Norwich is one of 180 further education institutions that has been allocated a share of a £200 million Government investment to repair buildings, renovate campuses and upgrade facilities.

Last week’s funding comes from the £200 million announced by the Prime Minister in June as part of his New Deal for Britain, helping the nation bounce back from coronavirus by investing in infrastructure and skills, and creating jobs. The Government have brought forward this funding from the £1.5 billion investment the Chancellor pledged in our last budget to upgrade the further college estate over the next five years.

Chloe commented: “I am delighted that City College Norwich will be receiving this investment. As founder and chair of the Norwich For Jobs project, I have worked closely with our partners, City College Norwich and know that further education plays a vital role in unlocking talent and potential of thousands of young people, and those returning to education once again, in local communities both in Norwich and across the country.

“This funding will ensure our colleges have the investment and resources its needs to deliver a world class further education system, that will open up opportunity and deliver a workforce that will help get Britain back on its feet.”
