Chloe Smith welcomes measures to help pleural plaque sufferers

Chloe Smith, Member of Parliament for Norwich North, today welcomed the Government's decision to introduce a wide-ranging package of measures to help and support people with pleural plaques.

The decision follows a consultation on the issue in response to the House of Lords' decision in October 2007 that pleural plaque sufferers are not compensatable under the common law.

Commenting on the announcement, Chloe Smith said:

"The consultation was launched a year and a half ago and I am pleased that finally a decision has been reached.

Many people in Norwich need help with the consequences of asbestos in their former workplaces. This seems like good news."
