Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 02 June 2020 16:46

To celebrate Volunteers Week, Chloe Smith, MP for Norwich North is taking to social media to say thank you to volunteers across the community.

Volunteers' Week takes place 1 - 7 June every year. It's a chance to celebrate and say thank you for the contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK.

Commenting, Chloe said “During the coronavirus pandemic, we have seen so many people step up and volunteer their time to help and support those in need. This year, Volunteers Week is even more poignant; we all owe our gratitude to volunteers across our community, who we value so much, and whose work often goes uncelebrated.”

“I appreciate what vital role charities, social enterprises and volunteers are playing in Norwich, meeting the needs of vulnerable people; and I welcome the latest support funds for the smallest charities so that people can continue to step up to respond to the crisis and do so much good in our community.”

The Coronavirus Community Support Fund is being administered through the National Lottery Community. Charities and social enterprises can submit applications through the NLCF website, which can be found here: www.tnlcommunityfund.org.uk

If you would like to know of a volunteer that you think deserves to be thanked in our community, please email chloe@chloesmith.org.uk with their name, contact details, a photograph and a reason for their nomination.
