Chloe Smith MP joins in Catton Grove Primary School Skip2Bfit Challenge Event 2016

Chloe Smith, Member of Parliament for Norwich North on Friday 27th May 2016 joined Catton Grove Primary School in their Skip2Bfit Challenge.

  

Skip2Bfit is a cross curricular skipping programme incorporating science, numeracy, IT and healthy eating. Skip2Bfit was started in 2002, and now operates all across the UK. The programme is not just about skipping, as the use of specially designed digital counting skipping ropes motivates children to improve in all areas of the curriculum, including numeracy.

 

For the last two years Skip2Bfit has been visiting schools in Norwich with a unique six week programme to inspire children to succeed in their two minute skipping challenges.

 

 

The event was organised by Skip2Bfit for the three schools which had been taking part in the Skip2Bfit 6 week programme, which were Catton Grove, Mile Cross and Magdalen Gate. Any schools who would like to join the programme can contact Skip2Bfit through the website www.skip2bfit.com

 

The challenge day offered a great opportunity for pupils to take part in a fun activity and compete for the School Challenge Cup, the Quartet Cup, Doubles Cup, and the Individual Cup for both infants and juniors. There was also a trophy for the top teacher. The teams comprised of 4 girls and 4 boys and the results were as follows:-

John McCormack the founder of the Skip2Bfit 2min challenge said “I would like to thank all the schools who took part in the event. The children had a great time it was great seeing how competitive everyone and I look forward to making this an annual event with more schools taking part.”

Chloe, who joined pupils at Catton Grove Primary School for their challenge and helped to present prizes said: “I would like to congratulate all of the pupils from Catton Grove Primary, Mile Cross Primary and Magdalen Gates who took part in the challenge; I was really pleased to be able to take part with the pupils from Catton Grove Primary School and watch them take part in an activity that helped them with physical fitness whilst incorporating other parts of the curriculum.”
