Chloe Smith calls for an end to violence against women

Chloe Smith, Member of Parliament for Norwich North, this week supports the White Ribbon Campaign against violence against women and calls on others to join her in Norwich.

The White Ribbon Campaign is the UK’s only male-led campaign to challenge violence against women. Wearing a White Ribbon signifies a commitment to never commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women.

Chloe said, “Unfortunately, the horror of domestic abuse, rape, sexual exploitation and trafficking is still a reality for thousands of women across the UK. Violence against women, in any form, is unacceptable and should not be tolerated.

“I support the White Ribbon UK because men need to get involved in ending violence against women. I urge men to go to www.whiteribboncampaign.co.uk and pledge their support for this important campaign.”

The 16 Days of Action Against Gender Violence runs from 25th of November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and to 10th December, International Human Rights Day. Those days symbolically link violence against women to human rights, to emphasise that it is a human rights abuse to commit violence against women.
