Chloe runs third business seminar

Chloe Smith MP today ran the third in the series of her 'Next Generation' business seminars. Begun last year in collaboration with City College and Howes Percival LLP, these meetings bring together Norwich students, entrepreneurs and established local firms to discuss the skills and business policies needed for the next generation.

For today's seminar, Chloe invited her city and coalition colleague Simon Wright MP to join her to present on business policies from the new government.

Chloe commented:

"It is very important to me to listen to different groups who have an interest in a strong business environment. We are still facing the effects of recession and it remains all about jobs. Bringing students, entrepreneurs and established local firms together allows us to have a useful discussion about Norwich employment needs.

"Today we discussed the conditions needed for recovery, and how the budget can be put to work to strengthen our opportunities in Norwich. Businesses and jobseekers alike want straightforward and fair conditions, and access to opportunities, information and support.

People can feel that a new government goes at a hundred miles an hour. I particularly used today to discuss the many proposals which are still to come: the consultation on skills for sustainable growth; the promised review of employment law and health and safety regulation; and of course the comprehensive spending review in the autumn."
