Chloe calls on Norwich organisations to add to the bureaucracy bonfire

Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 25 January 2012 12:44

Chloe Smith, MP for Norwich North, has today called on local organisations within Norwich to respond to the government's newly established Task Force on the bureaucracy that causes unnecessary burdens in their day to day running.

The Task Force, a commitment in the Cabinet Office Structural Reform Plan, and run by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, will be investigating and recommending measures to reduce the burdens of small organisations. It aims to cut red tape and make is easier for people to run charities, social enterprises and voluntary organisations. It will be chaired by Lord Hodgson of Astley Abbotts who has spent his career advising and working for SMEs.

Commenting on the Task Force, Chloe Smith said:

"I very much welcome this positive move by the Government to cut red tape and bureaucracy. I regularly meet and work with many small organisations and charities around Norwich and I know that there are many rules and regulations that affect them. Such bureaucracy undermines common sense and prevents people from getting on with the job in hand. I would encourage all organisations within Norwich to get in touch with me or the Task Force and tell them about burdens that should go.

"As a country we must add to this bureaucracy bonfire - that's what helps the ‘big society'."
