Beating bowel cancer together

Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK and the second biggest cancer killer.  Around 268,000 people living in the UK today have been diagnosed with bowel cancer, which will include lots where we live.  1 in 15 men and 1 in 18 women will be diagnosed with bowel cancer during their lifetime – but it’s treatable and curable especially if diagnosed early.  Nearly everyone survives bowel cancer if diagnosed at the earliest stage, and thankfully the number of people dying of bowel cancer has been falling since the 1970s.

 

My dad beat it, and the fact that we have both survived cancer ten years apart makes me all the more determined to campaign to raise awareness so that more people can get the treatment that will save them too.
