An Autumn Statement to deliver a world-class education to pupils in Norwich

Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 17 November 2022 16:21

In his Autumn Statement the Chancellor quite rightly drew the link between being pro-education is being pro-growth and spoke about the moral mission to provide children with a world class education. As MP for Norwich Northone of my key priorities is to give our children the best possible start in life.

That is why I welcome the announcement of £4 billion in additional funding for schools over the next two years. By increasing the schools' budget by £2 billion this year and £2 billion next year, it will help schools with rising costs due to inflation. From talking to headteachers in Norwich facing rising energy bills, I know this will be welcome news. This level of funding will mean that the government have fulfilled their pledge to restore per pupil funding to record levels, with real term per pupil funding rising at least to 2010 levels, more than Labour has pledged to give schools.

I hope you find this information helpfulThe Government is committed to young people and families, and so am I for us in NorwichIf I can help constituents with any matter, please do email me on chloe@chloesmith.org.uk or ring my constituency office on 01603 414756.
