A Sustainable Future for High Quality Social Care

I have received a letter from the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Health, which I think you will find useful in setting out the Government’s work in looking after the social care needs of some of the country’s most vulnerable people.

The Government’s priority is to ensure people who need our care a looked after and that it is done in a way that is both fair to those who have to pay for it and preserves the dignity of those who need it. As the minister says, the Government will be holding a consultation on its plans to reform social care and will be inviting responses from as many interested parties as possible. The Government wants to build a consensus on this issue through having a grown up conversation with the aim of arriving at a lasting solution to this challenge.
