64 vouchers issued to make green home improvements in Norwich North

In July last year the Chancellor announced a ‘green package’, as part of measures to help the economy recover from the pandemic. This included the Government’s £2 billion Green Homes Grant.

This allowed homeowners and landlords to apply for voucher in order to make green home improvements including insulation of walls and floors, replacing single with double or triple glazing and low carbon heating like heat pumps or solar thermal.

I've kept tabs on this in Parliament and locally, and I am pleased that 64 vouchers have been issued to make green home improvements in Norwich North.

Although the scheme has closed now to new applications, all applications made to the scheme before the deadline of March this year will still be processed and all vouchers issued will still be honoured.  Further to this, the Government is expanding its funding commitment for both the Local Authority Delivery element of the Green Homes Grant scheme and the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund with up to £300m in additional funding across the two schemes in 2021/22.

The Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery (LAD) focuses on owner occupiers, those in the private and social rented sector, with a household income of under £30,000. The primary purpose of LAD is to raise the energy efficiency rating of low income and low EPC rated homes (rated D, E, F or G), including those living in the worst quality off-gas grid homes.

This scheme has helped protect our environment, ensured constituents have good quality homes and provided jobs, which are some of my key local priorities for constituents in Norwich North.
