Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2023

Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 03 March 2023 14:00

This week is Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2023 (27th February – 5thMarch).

Eating disorders are serious mental illnesses affecting an estimated 1.25 million people in the UK.

An eating disorder can affect people of any age, gender, ethnicity, or background.

This year, Beat, the UK's Eating Disorder charity are raising awareness of eating disorders in men with their #HelpMenGetHelp campaign.

Eating disorders range from anorexia to bulimia, binge eating to over-eating. From casework enquiries I've received, I know how devastating the effects of an eating disorder can be on individuals, families, the NHS, social care, and wider society.

If you're struggling with an eating disorder, help is available, please see a list of suggested local and national helpline resources below, or contact BEAT.

If I can assist any constituent in North Norwich with any health-related casework concerns, please do contact me on: chloe@chloesmith.org.uk or tel: 10602 414756
