Royal Assent of the EUWB

This week marked an historic point in the Brexit process for the United Kingdom. The EU Withdrawal Bill received its Royal Assent from the Queen this week. This means that the EU Withdrawal Bill is now law and can be referred to as an Act of Parliament.

The Bill’s passage through Parliament saw it receive some of the most intricate scrutiny of any legislation in recent times. MP’s have worked very hard to get the Bill through Parliament and in a strong position, so that when we leave the European Union, existing EU law will be transferred straight over to become UK law. This, coupled with a transition period once we have left, provides the continuity and reassurance citizens and business expect.

The Bill is just one part of a set of actions taking place in Parliament to make sure we are ready for Brexit. Passage of the Bill has been an important step in delivering the Brexit people voted for - a Brexit that gives Britain a brighter future, in control of its money, laws, and borders.
