I know lots of people may have questions about the changes that were announced over the weekend, so here are the key links for information that you will need:
Unfortunately, the rules have now changed about how people might celebrate Christmas in Norwich: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/making-a-christmas-bubble-with-friends-and-family/making-a-christmas-bubble-with-friends-and-family
The Prime Minister explained why in his statement on Saturday 19th Dec: https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/prime-ministers-statement-on-coronavirus-covid-19-19-december-2020
I know how hard this is. Many of us will have quite a different time than we would have hoped for, coming on top of a very tough year. I am sure many will be thinking in particular of those who could be lonely, or family and friends we would have loved to see, so we shall all have to do what we can to spread a little cheer in small ways.
There are lots of ways to help others, including through local and national charities. If you are in urgent need yourself in Norfolk right now, see here: https://www.norfolk.gov.uk/care-support-and-health/support-for-living-independently/money-and-benefits/norfolk-assistance-scheme
Despite the challenges, I would like to wish everyone in Norwich a restful Christmas. I'd particularly like to thank everyone who has given so much in the community this year, from the NHS front-line to everyone who rang up a neighbour. Let's look ahead to getting back on our feet in 2021.
Best wishes,
Chloe
