Today the Government has launched the blueprint for NHS and social care reform following the pandemic, cutting bureaucracy and creating a more integrated healthcare system that will help to level up the nation’s health and build back better from the pandemic.
It is important to embed lessons learned during the pandemic and bring health and care services closer together to improve care, tackle health inequalities and build back better.
That is why the Government are today publishing a White Paper setting out measures that will make integrated care the default, reduce bureaucracy, improve accountability, and better support social care, public health, and the NHS. The reforms will also establish technology as a better platform to support staff and patients.
By acting now, we can make permanent some of the changes where Covid has forced the system to find new and better ways of working, and clear the path for improvements into the next decade such as delivering on our manifesto commitments including 50,000 more nurses and 40 new hospitals.
As MP for Norwich North, ensuring that our local NHS has the resources it needs is one of my priorities.
