Chloe welcomes UK Youth Parliament use of House of Commons chamber

Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 25 January 2012 13:01

Chloe Smith MP today welcomed the opportunity of a Commons motion to allow the UK Youth Parliament to use the main Parliamentary chamber once a year.

Chloe, who first got a taste for politics through setting up a youth forum in Norfolk, now regularly meets local Members of the Youth Parliament to discuss local issues. She is next meeting Jake Hillyard, new Norwich North MYP, in August.

Chloe Smith comments: "I thoroughly welcome opening up the House of Commons to members of the UK Youth Parliament. These are young people across the country who have been elected by their peers to tackle young people's issues, and it is vital to give them a decent venue to do that. Venues don't come much more inspiring than the chamber of the House of Commons."

The motion will come late tonight (20/7/10), and Chloe will vote in favour if it is contested.
