Chloe Smith today wrote to the Minister for Climate Change on behalf of Broadland District Council and the University of East Anglia to offer joint working on environmental initiatives with the new government.

Broadland District Council was identified by the Conservative Party prior to the general election as one of a shortlist of councils to work with on a "green deal".

In addition, Broadland District Council is discussing ways of working in partnership with the University of East Anglia's Low Carbon Innovation Centre on a range of green proposals.

Chloe writes to Gregory Barker MP: "I know that representatives from both organisations would be delighted to meet you or the relevant Ministerial colleague to take any "green deal" forwards. As a local Member of Parliament, I take a strong interest in this area and would be delighted to assist in any way I can."

Chloe further comments: "I welcome any close working between government, local councils and educational institutions. Broadland District Council and the UEA are keen to work up a "green deal" and I support that."
