Chloe Smith, Member of Parliament for Norwich North, today visited Norwich Prison to meet with representatives of Ormiston Children's Trust.

Ormiston is the largest children's charity in the East of England. It work to improve the wellbeing of children, young people and their families, whatever their circumstances.

Last year the charity helped over 16,000 children and their families. It currently has 35 community and prison-based projects across seven counties, and works in schools, children's centres and with families in their home to give them the support they need.

It vision is that of a society where every child and young person feels valued, safe, and free from prejudice, isolation and stigma. It therefore aims to reach those children and young people most disadvantaged by their life experiences and circumstances.

Ormiston manages the visitors centre at HMP Norwich and provides support and services within the prison, offering children's visits, parenting courses and family liaison. The Visitors' Centre provides a friendly welcome and information about the prison as well as a crèche and other services.
