Chloe Smith, Member of Parliament for Norwich North, will, on Wednesday 27th July 2016, meet Point of Light Award Winner Ernie Woodrow.
Ernie, who is a constituent of Chloe’s, organises the Norwich Community Green Gym and was awarded Point of Light award; presented to him by former Prime Minister David Cameron.
The Point of Light award, recognises outstanding individual volunteers, who are making a change in their community and inspiring others. Each week day, someone, somewhere in the country is selected to receive the award to celebrate their remarkable achievements. Despite taking early retirement as a result of illness, Ernie leads a team of volunteers with physical and mental disabilities who keep fit by completing a range of outdoor tasks including litter picking, gardening, path clearing and growing vegetables in the gym’s allotment.
Chloe comments ahead of her visit: “I want to offer my congratulations to Ernie on receiving the Points of Light Award; his commitment to supporting community members with physical and mental health issues is heart-warming and such an asset to Norwich. I’m looking forward to meeting him and other users of the Community Green Gym to learn more about the work they do.”
