Chloe Smith joins campaign for cheapest tariff information on all energy bills

Chloe Smith, Member of Parliament for Norwich North, has today signed a parliamentary EDM tabled by John Baron MP calling for energy companies to publish information on cheaper available tariffs on all of their energy bills.

The EDM congratulates Scottish and Southern Energy in pledging to go above the Government's requirement to publish comparison data on annual bills. Instead, SSE will publish the data on all bills.

Commenting on the campaign Chloe Smith said:

"SSE should be congratulated for breaking ranks with other energy companies on this issue. It will help in the fight against fuel poverty to have all statements include comparisons between the tariff being charged and the company's standard Direct Debit tariff. The Government has tried to suggest Ofgem can regulate to achieve this outcome on annual statements, but a real deal will require exactly this kind of action from the private sector."
